I have to say first off that I was so skeptical about this book after the disaster that was "Sundown" I was almost afraid to start and read this book. However I am glad I did. Still probably not 100% to Nora Roberts standard that we are use to reading it is still by far much better than the last offering.
This one gripped me from the moment I started reading and within pages my emotions were all over the place. I could feel the terror they felt in the moment of pure chaos. I felt as they did that it went on forever and not just the 8 actual minutes of terror. I fell completely into this story line. We watch the characters as they not only survive but put their lives back together after the terror and tragedy. We walk with them as they move forward and find new lives. But someone does not want them to continue with their new lives and has not let go of the terror from the mall.
I enjoyed this book so much more than the last. I still feel as if someone else was writing as it did not see to be Nora's usual gripping can't put it down style of writing. It did take me longer to read than it normally does her books. I even placed it aside to start and finish another's authors book and came back to this one.
I would say it is a good book and definitely worth the read. Just don't into it expecting it to be a normal Nora Roberts book.

Fatal Invasion (The Fatal Series) by Marie Force
When I read the blurb for what this installment of the series was going to be I could not wait for it to be released. As big fans of Nick and Sam I had an idea of where I wanted to see the story go and had my fingers crossed the entire time that she would work it out my way. Yay for me and yay for Marie, it happened pretty much like I wanted.
The story line is about 2 little ones that survive a home invasion and the murder of their parents and Sam's investigation into why someone would want to kill a normal everyday family. Sam must go to battle for these small victims professionally and personally. Also we continue from the previous book Gonzo's fight with himself and his grief and it all comes to a boil in Invasion. In the midst of all this we get to celebrate Freddie's wedding and see the goofy and tender heart of Sam for her partner. The story draws you in and won't let you go till the last page, and maybe not even then. Marie knows how to draw the emotions out of you and drop you dead center in the middle of the lives of these characters and makes it that you never want to leave.
I look forward to the next Fatal book, although she had warned us of her decision with one of the characters. I know that it was a decision that had to be made and I look forward to reading how she handles it and yet I dread reading it. I know I will have a love hate relationship with this next Fatal.
Start this series if you have not already. You will not regret it. As with all of Marie's books you just can't find a bad one in the bunch.
Join her Facebook pages as well. She is a very involved with her fans personally. Not like one of my other authors who has her assistant man the F/B page. She even occasionally does "Friday Night Follies" live and you can't communicate with her live and direct. She is my favorite author, no questions about it.

Yours After Dark (A Gansett Island Novel) by Marie Force
This series is amazing. I love a good series that draws you into the lives of a community. I can imagine what it is like to live on this island and have all these characters for friends. That's just how good Marie Force write a book. All of the books in this series is well worth time to read and you will go back time and again just to revisit your old friends on Gansett Island.
I found this book even more appealing this time. In it the male protagonist is one of the amazing McCarthy men. He's restless and thinking about leaving the island to go back to the mainland to an old job and maybe an old girlfriend. All of his cousins, his Dad, his uncle and now his brother have found love on the island. He thinks he's not ready and then he meets her. She's been there all the time. All it took was getting a haircut to meet a woman beyond his dreams. But she had secrets and he wants to know what they are so they can overcome them and be together. This book is beautifully written and handles an issue that many face today and Marie handles it perfectly.
Marie incorporates an element this time that many authors do not. That's what I love about her. Sometimes her characters are not perfect. Sometimes they have medical issues; or they are a bit overweight, not skinny and perfect like some romance authors like to write. She tries to keep them real yet still appealing.
Try this series I promise you will not be disappointed and you will fall in love.

The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls
I loved this book from the minute I opened the first page. It takes you on a journey with a family that lives in poverty. The parents are so absent most of the time that it makes you wonder how these children ever survive. The father is so endearing that you can’t help but love him and you are rooting for him to change and to step up as a parent. The mother makes you want to shake her till she sees the light. In the end all anyone can do is the best they can to survive.<br />

The Life She Was Given by Ellen Marie Wiseman
From the first page of this book you think you know what is going on and what's going to happen. But every page leads you down a new path. I loved learning about the Carney life as some of my ancestors were carnies. It helped me to picture what kind of life they must have had. This book is a quick read as you can't put down till you are finished.

We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter
This book was so good but such a hard read. The content will break your heart and yet at the same time you are celebrating the humans will to survive and the spirit to go on in the midst of the most horrible things humans can do to one another. The novel has detailed historical accounts some of which I never knew. You find yourself rooting for this family to survive, stay together and to find each other in the end. It shows a slice of history that many say now never happened or many want to try to erase. Give this book a try and you won’t regret it.

Silent Child by Sarah A Denzil
What a surprise I found in this novel. So every month as a prime member, Amazon offers me a choice of novels coming out the next month to read in advance. So as I was looking over the offerings that month I came across this one and the title intrigued me. As I read the short blurb that accompanied it I really became intrigued. I cannot give this novel enough praise. The author had me hooked from the first line and it only got better from there. I read it from cover to cover in just 3 hours, I could not put it down.
The story begins with a mother loosing her child in a drowning during a storm. As she learns to deal with her loss, she starts to rebuild her life. It's been ten years, she has a husband now, pregnant and starting to find the joy in life again. When all of the sudden, her son now a teenager; appears from nowhere and he is unable speak. He can't tell them where he's been and what happened to him. The broken bones and numerous injuries tell them that whatever it was had been horrific. Who from their tiny town could be capable of this?
This the story of a mother's fight to find out what happened to her son and to learn to reconnect. The story line in itself is a page turner because you are so caught up in trying to find out what happened to the son in those ten years that you never seen the end coming and you certainly do not expect the answer.
I was so impressed by this novel and it's author that I have recommended it to all of my friends. You must read this book you will not be sorry you spent the time.
